Fll experienced team application
First Lego League is a fun and challenging experience for students in Grade 5-8. The season starts in September and culminates in a regional competition in late November or early December. Some teams will qualify to move on to the Provincial Championship in January.
The competition is about much more than programming LEGO robots! Each season has a theme, and teams must research a real-world problem related to that theme and design an innovation solution. Teams must also design, build and program a robot to complete missions in the Robot Game. The competition includes a judging session, where the team presents their Innovation Project and Robot Design to a panel of judges. Teams are also assessed on how well they demonstrate the Core Values that are at the heart of FIRST Robotics, including discovery, teamwork and innovation. It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!
This year, team meetings will be held on Saturdays from 12-4. Attendance at team meetings is very important. We understand that sometimes illness or other circumstances mean that students must miss an occasional meeting, but the expectation is that students should be able to commit to attending all the team meetings. As we approach the competition day, additional team meetings may be required and we will try to find a time that works for everyone.
Places on our Experienced team are offered first to our returning team members. After that any remaining spots will be offered to course students who have indicated an interest, likely in early August.
